The Deliberate Pianist - your app for structured deliberate piano practice.

Most pianists spend too much time repeating what they already know and too little time working on what actually needs attention.

The goal isn't perfection.
The goal is to make music. Sooner.
Practice With Purpose
Work on the passages that actually need attention.
Focus On Weak Spots
Fragile sections return until they become reliable.
Track Real Progress

The Problem

Many practice sessions start with a clear goal and end with aimless repetition.

The challenge isn't spending more time at the piano. It's maintaining attention, noticing mistakes as they happen, and consistently returning to the passages that need work most. It's maintaining attention during solitary practice, resisting the temptation to play through mistakes, and consistently returning to the passages that actually need work.

Common challenges when practicing
01 replaying already stable passages
02 drifting into autopilot
03 avoiding difficult sections
04 practicing too fast
05 losing track of weak spots
Core idea of The Deliberate Pianist

The Deliberate Pianist continuously guides attention toward the bars that need work most. Stable passages fade into the background. Fragile passages return until they become reliable. Practice becomes more focused, more deliberate, and ultimately more musical.

Why I Built This

I wanted more time making music and less time wondering what to practice.

Like many pianists, I found myself repeatedly playing through pieces and hoping difficult passages would eventually improve. Sometimes they did. Often they didn't. The Deliberate Pianist grew out of a simple question: What if practice could continuously guide attention toward the places that need it most?
